where are you, spring?

I am seriously dying for spring to finally show her sassy face here in Northern NY, and she’s being a fickle friend as of right now. I can’t tell you how much I’m just craving warm spring nights, summer dips in the pool, walks along the Black River Trail with my kiddos and awesome hikes with great friends. Here are my top five must-hike attractions for the summer…do you think we can hit them all before the weather turns in the fall?!

1 // Watkins Glen State Park

This is in the Finger Lakes, and we’d definitely need to spend the night in the area to be able to do this, but I think it would be awesome to do while we’re in the area.

2 // Pixley Falls State Park

As soon as it’s slightly warmer on a weekend here, we plan to do this one. It’s only about an hour or so away, and it will make for some great pictures and playtime for the kiddos.

3 // Gleasmans Falls Trail

More trail than straight hike, this would be a great nature walk for all of us – and a little bit easier on Spencer’s little legs. The plus side is that there are great falls and a nice river for lunching next to, as well.

4 // Rainbow Falls

This beauty is near Lake Placid, and is more of a moderate hike…meaning it would be a little harder with the kiddos. With kids, they say about 5 miles roundtrip, and about 5-6 hours. It’s doable, but it would likely mean a stay there, as well.

5 // Copper Rock Falls

This looks like a hike that isn’t too far, isn’t too difficult and offers great views on a traditional hiking trail. Honestly, it looks like a simple, fun summer hike.

Now, if spring would just arrive, I’d be one happy mother. But seriously. Really happy 🙂
