fall at schilter family farm

So, we had pretty much the ultimate fall weekend – on Saturday, at least! Sunday was spent hunkering down during the rain, grocery shopping, and generally trying to get things prepped for the week ahead, but Saturday was spent in the beautiful PNW sunshine at Schilter Family Farm. As you know, I’ve been on the quest for the best cider donut in the PNW, and I read some reviews about the donuts and the experiences at Schilter Family Farm. Needless to say, I was convinced.

It’s only about six miles from our house, so we headed out right when it opened at 10 AM. We expected it would be busy, and we were right, but we were lucky enough to beat the bulk of the crowds, too. Best of all though, Schilter Family Farm has everything fall in one place! I’m talking hay bales, pumpkin picking, hay rides, wagon rides for kiddos, corn mazes, petting areas, treats, and so much more. The boys (and, probably, moreso me) were in heaven.

Schilter Family Farm offers a military discount, so we bought the family pass, which included the wagon ride for kids, a chance at the pumpkin cannon, entrance to the mazes, etc., and went on our merry way. If you saw my instagram stories this weekend, you likely saw my boys’ happy little faces on the rides, as well as climbing all over. They had a blast.

We broke up the day with treats. Since we did a fair bit of walking around the farm, picking pumpkins, jumping in the hay bales, and more, we treated the boys to a Halloween cookie, some fudge, and each of them got a fresh hot dog – and roasted corn – before the day was out. Needless to say, it was a day of indulgence, fun, and fall magic for all of us, baby bump included!

I forget sometimes that Ryan didn’t get to experience our fall fun in New York last year because he was still deployed, and he won’t get to do this next year because he’ll be deployed again. These silly little memories are so much more precious because of that. We don’t always have the guarantee of tomorrow together, so we’re making the best of what we’ve got.

Happy Monday, friends! Cheers to a great week!
