I tried thrive causemetics & here’s what I really think

thrive causemetics review

I feel like I need to preface this post twofold. First and foremost, I am not now, nor will I ever be a beauty blogger. I consider those around me blessed if I do my makeup every day, so that’s pretty self-explanatory. Second, I always hesitate a bit to share my product recommendations because, let’s be honest, who really cares? There are those bloggers whose opinions I really value though, and I figure my lone little voice may carry a tiny bit of weight – if only because when I share posts like this and that of the Zinus mattress I reviewed, they’re not sponsored. But I digress.

A few weeks ago, I posted on my instagram stories that I was considering making an order from Thrive Causemetics because their product marketing was insanely on point and, well, I like their brand identity. As one who works in marketing, these things matter to me. An overwhelming 76% of people voted on my story that, yes, I should try them, and after chatting with Ashley from one of my favorite blogs, A Cute Angle, I went ahead and placed an order.

I decided to order three products to start: their Liquid Lash Extensions Mascara, Brilliant Eye Brightener, and Filtered Effect Soft Focus HD Setting Powder. I have a pretty simple makeup routine to begin with. I generally use my amazing Rodan & Fields foundation, which I purchased from Lisa over at Coast to Coast blog, Bare Minerals blush/bronzer, mascara, eyeliner if it’s a good day, and a brow pencil. It’s nothing fancy, and these products aligned with my established makeup routine while boasting the ability to heighten it, if that makes sense.

First and foremost – shipping is F A S T. I expected a week, but my products arrived in two days. I also received a complementary little makeup bag, and can a girl ever have enough of those? I think not. But, seriously, onto the products…

Liquid Lash Extensions Mascara

This is literally my new favorite makeup product. It doesn’t clump, it doesn’t smear, and unlike other fiber mascaras, it actually layers extremely well. My lashes have never looked longer and, even better, I don’t have any gross mascara smear to clean off my face each evening. Seriously. I’m converted to this product for life.

Brilliant Eye Brightener

This is actually the product that initially drew me in. It boasted something to the effect of making you look like you get 8 hours of sleep each night. Ha. I’m a mama. I’m a mama of a 4-year-old, a 2-year-old, and I’m 35 weeks pregnant. I don’t sleep. While I’m not sure this quite lives up to its claim, it does lighten and brighten my inner eyes, and I love that. Plus, it goes on super smooth.

Filtered Effect Soft Focus HD Setting Powder

I was a little iffy on whether I wanted to buy this one. I’ve been using Bare Minerals’ foundations for a few years, but since switching to a good liquid foundation, I wanted something that wouldn’t add another real layer and, instead, just reduce shine and sort of enhance the look. This does that and, as an added bonus, it helps really blend the foundation, itself, for smooth and even coverage.

I’ll admit. I’m cheap. I don’t like spending beaucoup bucks on makeup, so I tend to rely on drugstore brands. Thrive Causemetics definitely exceeded my expectations though. And, despite the $86 price tag of these three products, I’ll definitely be buying from them again.

Have you tried Thrive Causemetics? If so, what do you think? If not, what would you love to try?
