5 on friday: wins for the week

jblm sunrise

Well, that’s a wrap on the first week of 2021, and I think we can all agree…thank goodness. What an insane week. Honestly, I’m glad to see this week go. Waking up at 4 AM every day, watching things continue to unravel in so many directions and, once again, try to find normalcy in the chaos has been a lot to try to take in. And yet, as always, there was some good this week, too. I’m going to continue my wins for the week on Fridays in 2021 because I think it helps me focus on the positives. So, here we go.

Wins for the Week

1 // Spencer returns to in-person learning next week

As Washington edges into its roadmap to a healthy recovery, Spencer’s school will start four full days in person and one half day starting next week for grades K-5. Should the numbers continue to trend downward, they’ll bring back the middle school children, as well. I’m excited for him, as I think it will really help him focus more than ever.

2 // We celebrated our seventh anniversary

I mentioned briefly on Monday, but Ryan and I celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary on Monday, and we were so grateful to be able to spend the weekend prior hiking as a family. I’m eternally grateful to do this thing called life with him.

3 // The PCS purge has begun

It may not seem like much because so much is yet undecided, but our roadmap to getting rid of things is getting lighter and brighter! We’re considering what furniture to take, what to purge, how the kids will room when we move, and what toys need to stay behind. While it may be jumping the gun in some ways, it’s also putting our best foot forward.

4 // I ran three times this week

It doesn’t seem like that much in the grand scheme of things, but I’ve made a commitment to being active despite the curveballs life throws our way. Two of those runs have been late in the evening on the treadmill, and one was outside on a very rare clear day. All three were worth the effort, and my goal is to continue to prioritize my health and fitness this year.

5 // I have my first styled shoot tomorrow

Since I announced that I started my photography business, I’ve been slowly building my portfolio. I’m excited to do a family shoot this weekend for great friends, as well as a styled shoot that I’ve been envisioning for a while. Cheers to big adventures and even better things.

Honestly, if there’s one thing I’m grateful for this week, it’s my family – and the memes. Yes, in that order. My family anchors me in reality while the memes give me levity, and I’m grateful for both right now. Either way, here’s to Friday, my friends. May it be a beautiful one!

Tell me – what were some of your wins for the week?
