Cheers to Friday (again), my friends! I’m beyond ready for this month to be over, but I’m also doing my best to stay present, as I know that crazy town is about to unleash all unholy things in our life for this PCS. Plus, this is another week down of our current TDY, and in terms of wins for the week, that one ranks pretty darn high! While the weather might still be fickle, we’re seeing more and more spring weather, and I couldn’t be happier. So, without further ado, let’s dive in…
Wins for the Week
1 // We had Spencer’s parent/teacher conference
And, spoiler alert, it was so good! Spencer’s been struggling with all the changes throughout his introductory year to formal schooling, but he’s actually doing quite well. He’s made significant improvements from our conferences this past fall, and his reading comprehension is getting there while his math is great! Now, we just need to work on confidence.
2 // I bought my new camera lens
I’ve been saving up every penny since starting my little photography business, and I put all my money towards a brand new 35mm lens, which I’m so excited to start shooting with this weekend! I have a really exciting session this evening, and even with rain and gross weather, I’m so ready for this moody and beautiful shoot!
3 // Mieke’s one step closer to her surgery next week
In case you’ve missed it, we’ve been waiting for months and months (because of COVID) to get Mieke’s surgery scheduled. We waited for a referral. We waited for her consult. We waited for just about everything, but we’re finally within a week of getting her tear ducts fixed. Her surgery is outpatient this coming week, and I’m so excited for her to be more comfortable.
4 // We made the leap and ordered a Peloton
We’ve been considering this for a looooonggg time, and we finally decided to it was time to bite the bullet and do it. We bought a treadmill right before the lockdown started last year, and we’ve gotten great use out of it. We don’t plan to take our treadmill to Korea with us though, and we wanted to make sure we had something in house and on hand to work out whenever we wanted. This is just the ticket, and we cannot wait for it to arrive!
5 // We successfully completed our EFMP interview on Monday
This was our last big hurdle before requesting command sponsorship from Camp Humphreys. The interview was virtual between the case coordinator, the kids, and myself. The kiddos answered the questions well, and we were able to quickly go through all our medical history. That paperwork was submitted this week, and now we wait for our approval!
Overall, while not quite as overtly incredible as last week’s wins for the week, this was a good one. I’ve found our days are busier than ever, and I expect that it’s going to only get busier and crazier from here on out. It’s going to be such a chaotic few months, so we’re celebrating all the good we can! Cheers to a beautiful weekend, my friends!
Tell me – what are some of your wins for the week?
