Happy Friday, friends! It has been a long, long, long week over here, but it wasn’t without its sunny sides and definitive wins for the week. We’re definitely excited to see this one go – and bid March adieu, as well. But, as we turn the page on March and head into April, I’m ready for long, sunny evenings at the playground and plenty more adventures in Washington before we go.
Wins for the Week
1 // We celebrated Mieke’s 2nd birthday
This was by far our biggest win for the week! Though this wasn’t how we’d planned or hoped to spend Mieke’s second birthday, I’m so grateful that we were locked down together to celebrate our little lady as a family. Mieke got her gifts, which included new clothes for doll, some little dolls and furniture for her dollhouse, and the big one – a new push trike/trike/balance bike hybrid! I foresee us getting a lot of use out of it in Korea!
2 // We got our Peloton
This was very much up in the air this week, but we managed to have our Peloton delivered to friends via threshold delivery this week. We then took the bike and brought it inside where it’s getting plenty of use already! I love it, and it’s a totally different kind of workout than my running, so that’s been a fun new mix-up in my routine. Sidebar – if you have a Peloton, drop me your name in the comments!
3 // It was sunny the entire week
My biggest concern about being quarantined this week was the weather, in all honesty. When it’s rainy, it’s really hard to stay busy and entertained while inside for long periods of time. We’re adventurous, and we’re fine with a little rain, but we were blessed with sun instead, and we had lots of outdoor time together this week!
4 // We got to quarantine with our furniture
I know this sounds silly, but as I mentioned in my post about the OCONUS PCS process (here’s some military acronyms for you if you need them!), all our belongings will soon either go into storage, be loaded up as unaccompanied baggage, or be sent to Korea as household goods. While that’s fast-approaching, we were lucky to have furniture during this quarantine!
5 // We did a lot of work on Spencer’s handwriting
One of the bonuses of this quarantine leading into Spencer’s spring break has been the opportunity to sit down with him one-on-one and really work on his handwriting with him. This has been the biggest challenge for him in school thus far, so being able to sit with him, work in a composition book, and show him the proper way to write letters has been really helpful! We’re seeing good progress!
Honestly, a second quarantine prior to our move to Korea was not something I even remotely wanted in my life, but I truly believe you have to make lemonade out of the lemons life gives you sometimes. That’s not to say I haven’t had an abundance of feels this week or anything, but there are far worse things that could’ve happened. The kids and I get tested again tomorrow, and if we’re negative, we’re released on Sunday. Needless to say, we’re ready!
Tell me – what are some of your wins for the week?
