5 on friday: wins for the week

wins for the week april 23, 2021

Cheers to another Friday, friends! We’re about to head into the last week of April, and I’m beyond ready to bid this month adieu next week. I always forget what an emotional rollercoaster PCS season is like, but this one has been pure chaos. I’ll be glad to see the ball rolling again soon and for big changes to come our way. It’s time for another round of Wins for the Week though, and I’m glad to share some happier news this week (finally!)

Wins for the Week

1 // We got command sponsorship (CSP)!!!

This is by far the biggest win for the week in large part because it means our move to Korea is finally a go! I mentioned in my PCS update earlier this week that we were in a holding pattern, but we found out last night officially that we have CSP, and will be heading to Korea as a family. Now comes all the prepping and packing for an overseas move in 6-8 weeks! Eek!

2 // We accepted another offer on our NY house

I mentioned last week that our first home contract fell through because the buyer was military, and his orders changed. We had a few showings this week, and one submitted a solid offer. After a little back and forth, we came to an agreement, and we’re under contract with a late June closing date. We’re hopeful (and prayerful) that this one will stick, and it’ll be one less thing on our list.

3 // We had a solid two weeks of sun before the clouds came

Like we noted last year, spring is fickle in the PNW, and the sun and heat comes and goes quickly. We had couple solid weeks of sun and warmth though, and it was so good for the soul. We got a beach day, we had plenty of warm playground evenings, and it was so good to come out of our proverbial hibernation and enjoy a real taste of spring.

4 // We’re prepping our final PNW bucket list

Now that our time is officially really limited here in the PNW, we’re making a list of the things we absolutely must do before we go. There are a lot of things we won’t be able to do, and there are definitely places we won’t get to go before we PCS, sadly, but this gives us that push to prioritize the most important ones, and that’s exciting.

5 // Spencer’s heading into the final month and a half of kindergarten

COVID made for an interesting start to Spencer’s school-age education, but we’re grateful he had the opportunity to enjoy the stability of his little school here. He’s had in-person learning almost the entire year, and despite a rough start in hybrid learning, we’re excited to see him continue learn and grow. Some of you have asked about schooling in Korea. I feel like there’s a whole bag of things to share about that, so we’ll go in more detail later.

Last week, my wins for the week were a bummer, to be honest. Last week was hard. This week started rocky, but we’re finally finding our footing again, and I just wanted to thank all of you for your patience and prayers – they worked ,and we’re so thankful! Happy Friday, friends!

Tell me – what are some of your wins for the week?
