currently: the january in korea edition

Well…in true 2022 fashion, I’m about a week day late to my favorite monthly feature. Better late than never though, right? Currently is a monthly feature from Anne in Residence in which we share five things we’re, well, currently doing. It’s been a whirlwind few weeks, so I’m finally getting around to Currently: The January in Korea edition, but I’m here. I’m sitting. Let’s do this.

Currently: The January in Korea Edition

Anticipating // I’ve had a hard time with this one, which is part of the reason I held off on writing the January edition of Currently. We were anticipating heightened restrictions in Korea and, true to form, USAG Camp Humphreys locked our butts down again. We’re barred from anything non-essential off post, and it sucks. I’m doing my best to put a positive spin on things, but when we hear phrases like “two weeks to flatten the curve” and “stop the spread,” honestly, it just feels like a repeat of 2020, and I’m tired.

Organizing // One plus side of a complete inability to travel is the opportunity to organize. Again. Yes, I know. Today, I organized my refrigerator because, yes, we’re having stocking issues and shipping shortages at our commissary. Since we can buy on the economy, I organized the fridge to get a better idea of what we need and where I can source it.

Reading // I’m doing my best to keep my reading streak alive! I’m on my second book of 2022, and I realized I haven’t shared my December reads yet, so I’ll get to that later this week. Right now though, I’m reading A Ruin of Roses by K.F. Breene. I’m on the fence about it thus far.

Resolving // Right now, I’m just resolving to somehow get out of this funk. That means more Peloton rides (because our AQI is consistently over 200 these days), more meal planning, and more dreaming big with Ryan for what’s to come for our little family. We’ll get through this, too, but I need to resolve to live by my word of the year.

Scheduling // I’m excited that Missy Moore Photography is doing well kicking off this new year! I’ve been scheduling lots of sessions lately, and I tackled my first two of the year before HPCON B+ was put in place. I have two big family sessions next month, and I’m hopeful that maybe, just maybe, we’ll be allowed to conduct business off post again soon.

Honestly, the January edition of Currently here in Korea is a bit of a bummer, and I’m sorry. I hate breathing negativity into the world, but goodness, we’re tired. We’re definitely hoping things change soon though and that we’ll be able to explore again.

Tell me – what are you currently anticipating, organizing, reading, resolving, and scheduling?
