TGIF, my friends! Yet another week has wrapped on the eternal month of January and, though nothing extraordinarily big happened, we’re one step closer to bidding adieu to January, and saying hello to February (my birthday month!) We just heard this evening that ROM (restriction of movement) has been extended – again – until further notice so, though that weighs heavily on us, we’re doing our best to keep busy and focus on the bright side of things with our Friday favorites for the week in this third week of January.

Friday Favorites in January

1 // I’m consistently getting photography inquiries

Though Missy Moore Photography is a little slow due to the current ROM in place, I’m consistently getting inquiries, and it’s getting me excited for the spring and summer seasons ahead! I’m planning my cherry blossom mini sessions in Seoul, and I’m hoping that’s the perfect way to start welcoming the warmer months.

2 // We had a little dusting of snow

It’s been dang cold here lately, and if you know me, you know I absolutely love snow. We haven’t had a lot here, but when those gray skies opened up this past week and it started snowing hard, my heart was so happy, and the kiddos and I actually danced on the balcony! No, it didn’t last long, but gosh, it was perfect.

3 // The kiddos are rocking school

While ROM is in place for soldiers and families, schools remain open thus far. Porter is absolutely loving reading and science, and Spencer is excelling in math. I love seeing how different they are in their schoolwork and their strengths, and it makes me excited for the years to come as we watch them progress. Also, we’re pushing closer to their 100 days of school!

4 // Peloton’s meditation programs are legit

I’ve been struggling with insomnia lately – not for any real reason, but my mind is just going a million miles a minute constantly. I blame it on consistent stress and change. I discovered Peloton’s meditations this past week though, and Ross Rayburn has some great sleep meditations that have helped me settle a bit, and I’m so grateful for that.

5 // We’re taking the plunge with some more sustainable household items

One of our biggest goals as a family is to be more self-sufficient and sustainable in the things we do. We’re good in some respects, but we’re really bad in others. I’ve been doing some reading on one of my favorite blogs about overall sustainability and a homesteading mentality wherever you are, and I’ve decided to start small. I’m trading in my fancy $50+ Woodwick candles, and I’ll be making some soon…more to come on that.

Honestly, January is a beast. I think if we survive this month, we’ll call that a win in and of itself. Nevertheless, we still have our Friday favorites in January, and we’re making it through.

Tell me – how is your January going?
