You guys, it’s literally the middle of November. What? When I turned the page of the calendar to November, I was like, “I’ve got it together this month.” Yet here I am doing my “Currently” post in the middle of the month. Again. Truly though, the latter half of this year is flying by, just like we knew it would. Things are getting busier and busier around here. Ryan’s TDY, the kids and I are homeschooling again, sports keep us busy, and a big PCS is looming on the horizon. So, it’s time for Currently: November 2024 in which we share five things we’re currently doing this month.

Loving // I’m absolutely loving these slower homeschool mornings again. The kids do so much better when they get to sleep and wake up at an appropriate hour. There’s less wasted time, too. We get our work done, and then we tackle other things. Don’t get me wrong; there are plenty of challenges, too, and there is very little “me” time. I really do love moving at this pace with the kids though and the flexibility is just the best.

Looking Forward to // We’re heading to New Hampshire next month! This is the longest stretch of time in their entire lives that our kids haven’t been on a plane. I’m not kidding. The kids haven’t left Alaska in the year and a half we’ve been here. We’re ready to break up our winter in Alaska and spend some time with family for the holidays in one of our favorite places.

Smelling // I’ve recently fallen in love with Woodwick candles. They make our home smell warm and cozy while the rest of the world outside our door is absolutely a frozen tundra. I’m a big fan of the Lavender Cedar scent, which is keeping my house smelling happy even when it’s -20F outside.

Preparing for // We’ve been doing a lot of preparing for tackling homeschool through the winter here. It was hard last year – harder than I’d ever anticipated. There’s a new pool on post that’s supposedly opening next month though, and the kids and I are going to make a point of having some sort of outing every couple weeks to break up the time. I also got a Space-A memo signed juuuussst in case we see a flight pop up anywhere good that the kids can I can hop on. Who knows?

Thankful for // I haven’t shared much about the whole PCS thing, but I’m so darn thankful for the fact that we’re moving in the summer. Alaska has been a beautifully tough adventure for our family. We’ve literally had the best of times and the worst of times, and knowing that we’re moving makes me very glass-half-full about it all. I’m thankful for the challenges, the adventure, and all the amazing experiences yet to come here.

Tell me – what are you loving, looking forward to, smelling, preparing for, and thankful for this month?
