our five family favorites – january 2025

five family favorites

I don’t make a lot of “resolutions,” per se, anymore, but I do some goal-setting each year, and one of my biggest goals was to maintain some consistency on this blog. I enjoy it. It’s like a journal; an outlet for an otherwise cluttered mind, and it’s also sort of a creative funnel where I get to share ad nauseum. So, I set a goal to create a couple features this year that I can do each month to stay on track. The first is my book review roundup by month, which I shared yesterday, and the second is my five family favorites! I’m thinking about making this a linkup, but I haven’t decided yet, so for now, I plan to just share our five family favorites the final Friday of each month. So, here we go!

Our Five Family Favorites – January 2025

Pimsleur // I started learning Hangeul and Korean when we lived in South Korea, and I made a goal to learn more, which isn’t easy when you don’t live surrounded by native speakers. I have been consistently using a couple different language-learning apps for the past six months though, and I recently added Pimsleur, which has been an awesome addition. I love that I get to use functional Korean conversations to learn, and it forces me to speak – rather than just read – which has been a huge help.

Beautiful Air Fryer // I haven’t had an air fryer in over a year, and I bought the Beautiful by Drew Air Fryer last week on a whim. I love it. Generally, I find air fryers too bulky and, especially in this home with a tiny kitchen, I haven’t wanted to take up more counter space. This one is sleek and aesthetic, not an absolute eyesore, and works like a dream. I’m so glad I bought it (oh, and the price point honestly can’t be beat.)

Tozo Earbuds // Ryan and I are forever on the hunt for good headphones and earbuds, and I’d bought myself AirPods in Korea to serve me better on long runs. Somewhere between fall and our first snowfall this year, however, my AirPods disappeared. I think they’re somewhere under the snow, which means I’ll never see them again. Anyway, we bought these Tozo earbuds on Amazon for a fraction of the cost, and they are the best. The sound quality is the best, and the price is something I can deal with if I have to replace them.

Gabb Watch // We bought both boys Gabb watches for Christmas after lengthy discussions with them about why we won’t buy them phones yet. These were the perfect compromise. They give them a little more independence, we can contact them easily with preapproved contacts we added, and they can talk to their Oma and Opa, as well as their friends. There’s also a step counter, which they find the coolest thing ever. I’m so glad we bit the bullet with these!

Modelones Gel Nail Kit // Mieke is super into everything pink, and glam, and girly, and she always wants her nails done. I actually bought this last winter, but I pulled it out again a few weeks ago, and I’m so glad I did! I’m not willing to pay to have gel nails for her weekly, but this has been so much fun to give her some fun, glam nails without the cost and hassle. I might even do mine – we’ll see! I bought this Modelones Gel Nail Art kit, and it’s worth every penny.

So, those are our five family favorites for January 2025. As you can tell – most of these things have to do with optimizing our comfort indoors, and I’m okay with that. It’s -25F as I type this, but we’re also heading into February next month, so winter is just cruising along. Cheers to making this chilly, dark winter go faster!

Tell me – would you like to link up to this next month? What were some of your favorite purchases this month?
