I know I’ve been hinting at our move for a while now, but goodness, it’s been a process to get to this point. In true military fashion, we’ve known we were moving (and likely where) for a few months now, but nothing has been set in stone. So, I’m always a little too nervous to share before we see things in the actual system, which we finally do. But, it’s time to share our last military move…our 2025 PCS announcement and everything that led up to it.
One Last Army Move
Before we get to the meat and potatoes, let’s start at the beginning, okay? We moved to Fort Wainwright in July of 2023, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed for a new adventure, but so many things were working against us. The biggest of those was that Ryan’s job in UAS here was essentially eliminated when the drone he worked with was discontinued. He’s been a champ and rolled with so many changes, but it’s been so hard for him.
Now, combine that with the fact that we have never missed a place like we all missed Korea. We were so incredibly homesick. So, after a lot of deliberation, we decided to put all our eggs in one basket and ask for a curtailment – and it was granted.

Look, I know why you’re all really here. It’s for the actual announcement; not the backstory. That’s fine. I can deal with that. So, without further ado, the Moores are moving (if you haven’t already guessed by the pictures)…
Back to Camp Humphreys, South Korea!
Every time we’ve moved during this military journey, we’ve been ready – or, I’ve been ready – for a new adventure. A new place. New sights. This is the first time we’ve ever pushed so hard to go back to one duty station. When Ryan’s marketplace opened, Humphreys was on the list several times, so we threw everything at the wall and hoped it stuck. Thankfully, Ryan is great at his job, has made fantastic connections in his field (and beyond), and we’ve had so many friends pulling for us along the way.
When Do We Move?
Ah…the million dollar question. In the loosest sense of the word, we’re moving this summer. In a more precise sense, we’re not completely sure yet. We were under the impression that we were moving later this summer, but Ryan’s current report date is actually in April. As you might remember, there’s a lot that goes into a military move.
We have our EFMP screening at the end of March (first available), and we’re asking to defer to the end of May, which we are so ready for. If that’s granted, we’re likely moving in May and have less than 100 days left in Alaska. So much is left to be decided, but we’re rolling now, friends, and we can’t wait.
