You guys, I literally looked back just before I started to type this up and realized that it’s been almost a year – a year – since the last time I shared one of these posts. Honestly, life has been so up in the air lately with the whole military waiting game, so we haven’t had a lot to write, or share, or do in this space, but there’s always time for laughter, right? So, it’s time for another round of Sh*t Spencer Says: Volume 12 because, yes, we’ve been doing these for many, many years now. Let’s dive in.
Sh*t Spencer Says: Volume 12
Whilst on a road trip, I finally said we had “no miles left.” // “I thought you said ‘no smiles’ for a minute, and I got really sad.”
We like to joke that Spencer is our golden retriever son. He thrives on smiles, and happiness, and words of affirmation, so I imagine that being told he couldn’t smile was quite the low blow!
When we drove around off base // “Wait. Why do all these houses look different from each other?”
You can tell our kids have lived on a few military installations because he was literally flabbergasted that houses don’t all look the same off base. I wonder what he’ll think once we’re out of the military…will it blow his mind?!

There was a “no smoking” sign at the pool // “I thought ‘fine: $50’ meant like, ‘it’s fine, you can smoke, but you owe us $50.'”
And now, I can never look at these signs the same again because, if you really think about it…it kind of makes sense. Mind blown.
Ryan and I discussing finances // “Is BAH a bad word?”
For those non-military folks, BAH stands for “basic allowance for housing.” So, no, it’s not a bad word, but after saying “SOL” enough, I can understand why he might think it is.
The kids were discussing when to turn off YouTube because of bad words // “Yeah, if it says ‘asshole’ or ‘shit,’ or that really bad one with the ‘f,’ then we can’t watch.”
I’m so glad he clarified those for his siblings. Also, I need to clean up my vocabulary, stat.

When the kids were arguing, and I told Spencer it takes two to tango because he said his sister started it // “But it only takes one to break dance!”
And yes, he proceeded to breakdance. I can’t with this kid.
Don’t be fooled, my friends. I’m losing my mind over here as we wait to find out what the heck is next for our family, but this definitely gave me an emotional boost going back through these little gems today. I’m leaving for Europe this weekend, and I’m hoping, hoping we’ll hear something by the time I’m back. But, as always, you never know! Anyway, if you enjoyed Sh*t Spencer Says: Volume, 12, be sure to check out all the previous ones below…
