Oh my gosh, guys. What a month it’s been. We’re finally settled. Our household goods (HHG) arrived a few weeks ago, 95% of all the boxes are tackled and unpacked and, somewhere in the midst of it all, my worst nightmare happened…my computer shit the bed. It literally got stuck on a boot cycle, and I finally got it back today. The entire solid state drive had to be replaced, the battery was shot, and basically, everything that wasn’t backed up in the cloud is gone. Now, thankfully, I back up my photography in about 1902384093 places, but my random desktop files? Gone. Sigh. That’s July in Korea post-PCS for you, right?
Our July in Korea So Far
It’s honestly been the weirdest, wildest ride on the peninsula thus far. It’s felt like such a homecoming, but there are so many added fun elements this time that we didn’t have last time, too. There’s no Covid. No quarantine. No asking for permission to gallivant around Pyeongtaek and all our neighboring hotspots. It’s so wild to just feel so free here this time.
We are, however, adjusting to the heat again…and the humidity. We’re smack dab in the middle of 삼복, which literally translates to the “dog days of summer.” It’s hot, humid, cloying, and I’m 25 weeks pregnant with twins, so there’s an added layer of discomfort somewhere amidst all the gratitude. We’re literally busy, busy, busy this July though, and it’s been such a blessing because it’s a complete change of pace from life in Alaska.

What’s New with the Moores
Since I last wrote, which was entirely too long ago, we’ve gone to Seoul for modeling a few times, had dinner out more times than I can count, and have gotten the kids solidly back to sports, which is amazing. The boys are thrilled to be back at jiujitsu, and we went back to our old jam here, Bon JiuJitsu Paengseong. Class is in Korean, but the boys are picking up a lot, enjoying the challenge, and really thriving in the discipline. Their first competition is at the end of August, and they’re so stoked to be back on the mat.
Mieke is finally living all her pink dreams and started ballet near post. She loves being able to wear a pink leotard, have her hair in a bun, dance to pretty music, and watch the pretty ballerinas in class before her. Seeing her thrive at both school and ballet has made my heart so happy. Ryan’s settled back into his work, and though the tempo here is much more fast and furious than that of Fort Wainwright’s, it’s been neat to see him feeling fulfilled in his role again.

Then there’s me; I’m trucking along. I’ve felt a little wayward in all of it because there’s a degree of displacement that comes with a) not having one’s house put together and b) not feeling fully settled. I do, however, finally feel settled, and it’s the best feeling. I’m excited to start taking on clients again for my photography business, and I’m thrilled to be back here where my heart is so happy. Now, if I can just survive these last few months of twin pregnancy.
What’s Next…
Well, first and foremost, we have so many blogs yet to be written that took a backseat when my computer decided to die. Now that we’re back in business, my desk is set up, and I’m ready to go, my goal is to get those up and out because we’ve had so much fun! Then, there’s our YouTube channel. You may remember that we started a YouTube channel at the start of the year, and we’ve been slowly (read: super slowly) been adding videos to our channel. Much like blogging though, it’s been on the backburner with the computer debacle.
BUT – we have some little videos in the works, and we can’t wait to share more. So, until then, thanks for sticking with us, folks! We’ve missed you! July in Korea is leading up to a fun August, I’m sure.
