Phew. How is January already halfway through?! These days and weeks keep getting away from us, in large part because we are just so consistently busy with homeschool, keeping twins alive (literally), and just daily tasks. January 2026 in Korea is a different kind of midwinter to last winter in Alaska, and we’re enjoying the generally more mild temperatures. It’s time for “Currently,” in which we share five things we’re currently doing this month.

Loving // My mom, Oma, is visiting us from New Hampshire and arrived in town last week. We shared a little YouTube short of her arrival on our channel! Ryan’s paternity leave is officially over, and he went back to work on Monday, so having her here with us has been such a special treat as we adjust to yet another new normal as a family. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t completely overwhelmed most days, but it’s a good kind of overwhelm. I think…

Resolving // I’m resolving this year to be more intentional across the board. Life is so busy that if I don’t do things with intent, they just don’t get done. I’m also trying to sort of roll with the punches a bit more. I’m super Type A, so managing things in this season of life has been extra challenging. By streamlining our focus and being intentional about what we do take on and what we prioritize the most, I’m hopeful that I’ll retain some sort of sanity through it all.

Planning // We are slowly starting to plan some trips and adventures this year! We’re doing our first night away from home with the twins this weekend, which I’m both excited and nervous about. We’ll see how things go and, as we gain more confidence, I think we’ll start planning bigger, longer, and more exciting adventures as a family. We did a solid day trip last weekend, and the twins did great, so that definitely gave us a little hope.

Eating/Drinking // I wish I could say we’re eating and drinking the best of all worlds, but we’re just sort of muddling through most days. We’ve had far too many Shuttle (think: Uber Eats) meals than I’d care to admit, and we’re living on tea and a prayer most days as we’ve been consistently sick as a family since Christmas. Cheers to hopefully being healthier as the season progresses!

Watching/Reading // Ryan and I don’t have a lot of free time these days – I know, shocker – but when we do, we’ve been enjoying a lot of Korean shows like Culinary Class Wars and, before that, Physical Asia. I’ve also been reading On Becoming Baby Wise, which has been my lifeline in these early twin trenches because sleep training twins is the only reason we’re still somewhat sane. Thanks to this book, the babies are down to one wakeup a night, which has been such a godsend.

January 2026 in Korea is cold, but warm…busy, but sweet. We’re slowly finding our new chaotic rhythm here with the twins in the mix, and it’s been a big adventure for all of us. Seeing the big kids thrive as older siblings, yet again, and watching them kick butt in jiujitsu, homeschool, and Korean class has been such a blessing. So, cheers to a couple more cold months this year then, hopefully, a beautiful spring ahead!

Tell me – what are you loving, resolving, planning, eating/drinking, and watching/reading this month?
