Well, that was…unexpected. I took a few months off there, huh? I hadn’t planned to take more than a couple weeks off, but life’s been life-ing, and we’ve been so busy that the blog has taken a back seat to life, itself. Honestly, it’s been good. I needed it. We needed it. So much has changed in the past 6.5 months since welcoming our twins, but so much good has happened, too. It felt like a good day to say hey! Hi! Hello…and maybe share a little bit about life lately as a family of 7 in South Korea.

Life Lately as a Family of 7 in South Korea

I think it’s safe to say that lots has happened since I last posted. The twins started Korean daycare here in Asan, and it’s been so wonderful. It’s not the same school Mieke went to when she was little, and I think I’m actually glad. It’s smaller, a little lesser-known, and it’s so close to home that it’s been such a peace of mind for all of us. We’ve stayed so busy with the kids’ modeling ventures, and Spencer is about to embark on something big this weekend. I’d share more, but we literally had to sign an NDA, so I’ll let you know more about that when we can!

Cherry blossoms have come and gone. My photography business is picking up well, and it’s been so great to pick up my camera and really dive back into work again. I’ve had so many amazing clients already, and I’m so inspired with what’s to come this summer and beyond. We found out that Ryan’s officially eligible for retirement in September 2028, which is absolutely wild, so big things are on the horizon there, and he has a big promotion this summer, too, pinning CW4!

Ryan and I are going to our first ball back in South Korea next week and, in the spirit of keeping things very, very busy, we’ll be bouncing between Spencer’s big venture next week while selling our van and buying a Hyundai Starex because this family of seven needs something  just a little larger. It feels like we’re home, finally settled, and falling into a beautiful rhythm – even though we spent all last week buried in diapers and rotavirus with the babies. We went on our first hike as a family a couple weeks ago, and it was great (more on that later), and we have so many adventures ahead this summer, too.

Honestly, I find myself completely immersed in gratitude most days. I walk with the twins almost every afternoon after I pick them up from daycare, and I find myself just thanking God for bringing us back here. We love it here so much, and seeing the kids thrive – feeling myself thrive – just feels so good. It feels like home, and it feels so good. Life lately as a family of 7 is equal parts chaos and sweetness, and we’re loving it.
