Two posts in a week?! What?! Just call me a resolutioner. I resolved not to make resolutions this year (see what I did there?), but I have been prioritizing time for myself and for my family these past months which, in turn, has given me more space to breathe, reflect, and write. All of those things are exactly what I’ve needed to find the time – and desire + energy – to blog. I decided to join the Currently for January 2023, in which we’re sharing what we’re loving, resolving, organizing, anticipating, and eating this month. It’s been fun to go back through the years and see my (and our) headspace for these posts, so why not? Here we go…

Loving // Right now, I’m loving where we are in our homeschool journey. I’ve been working on a post about how it’s gone, the route we chose, etc., but for now, I’m just loving that I feel like we’ve kind of found our footing…most days, that is. Some days are hard. Some days are easier than others. I’m definitely loving that we’re finding our pace and style though, and it’s been really good.

Organizing // I’m in the thick of that pre-PCS purge cycle right now where we’re organizing what we’re keeping when we move and what we’re getting rid of. I have a love/hate relationship with this process, but organizing these things makes me feel sane when things get out of control.

Resolving // Didn’t I literally just say I’m not making any resolutions? I’m not. Truly. I’ve resolved not to be a resolutioner. I’ve taken a step back with a lot of stuff (like sharing my word of the year). I still pick a word, but I’m less focused on sharing that and more focused on internalizing it and putting it into action, if that makes sense. It’s part of why and how slowing down with my blog last year really worked for me.

Anticipating // Ugh. This is the big one. If you’ve followed this space since the beginning, you’ll likely know that I’m possibly the most impatient person on the planet. I don’t do well with the perpetual waiting game. We’re in the thick of it right now though, as we anticipate our RFO (request for orders) coming down the line sooner than later. For the non-military, that means we’re waiting on orders for our next duty station…and it sucks. I hate waiting, especially when I know we move in less than six months.

Eating // We’ve been eating a loooottt of 김치찌개 or kimchi jiggae this month. Not sure what it is? Basically, it’s a kimchi stew rich with some sort of meat and/or tofu. We usually add a piece of katsu on top, and it’s divine. I may or may not have researched to make sure all our potential duty stations have Korean shops nearby so we won’t miss out on our favorite Korean foods once we move!

Currently, January 2023 has been quieter than previous years, and I’m grateful for it. The holidays, especially with our Space A trip to Hawaii before Christmas, were super busy. It’s the best kind of busy but, likewise, this is the best kind of calm…before the storm, that is. Regardless of what’s to come, I’m grateful for this near year of endless possibility ahead.

Tell me – what are you loving, organizing, anticipating, resolving and eating this month?
